The technology development of Hunan province changes with each passing day since the establishment of the new China.

　　There are has been 1145,000 peoples of different professionals & technicians work for the whole province, among which, there are 935,000 peoples on the nature & science study and 16 academicians in the province in present and 1488 technology exports with special subsidy by the government. With statistics by the technology administration, the technical human resources of Hunan province ranked 14 in the state. There are 196 independent science study & development institutions of municipal level by the end of 1998, among which there are 181 nature & science study and development institutions. And in the non-independent science study institutions, there are 179 science study & development institutions by advanced colleges and universities, 443 ones by the large or middle scale enterprise, forms stronger stuff of science study.
　　The technical achievement emerge in endlessly, there are has been 24,000 science & technology achievements of different kind in recent 50 years, among which, there are 19,000 ones achieved in the recent 20 years since the opening up to the world. And there are a batch of science & technology achievements of world advanced level such as yinhe I, II, III giant computer, and what is more, Hunan is a province of many patents and there are 33,000 registering patents in the whole and 16, 000 has been awarded. The total sum of technical contract has been 10,100,000,000, ranked 10 in the nation.
